Motional has appointed Sehyuk Park as Chief Strategy Officer. Park joins Motional from Hyundai Motor Group and brings over 25 years of experience in corporate strategy, program management, product development, and supply chain management. He’s based in Motional’s Boston headquarters and will oversee the company’s strategy, product, and supply chain divisions, among other responsibilities.
Park previously served as the Vice President and Vehicle Project Manager at Hyundai Motor Group R&D, where he established development strategies, targets, and roadmaps for new programming while leading teams across engineering, design, procurement, quality, and manufacturing. He also worked as a leader on the Hyundai Motor Group Corporate Innovation team, responsible for implementing strategies to enhance business processes and foster increased innovation and collaboration across the organization.
“It’s our pleasure to have Sehyuk as part of the Motional senior management team,” commented Karl Iagnemma, President and CEO at Motional. “He is a seasoned leader with extensive knowledge of the automotive and mobility sectors, and expertise in optimizing corporate strategies and accelerating business targets. His appointment is also an opportunity to deepen our collaboration with Hyundai and facilitate knowledge sharing across our organizations as we work towards smarter, safer, and more sustainable transportation.”
As part of his responsibilities, Park will work closely with Motional’s engineering and commercial teams to support the growth of the company’s driverless ride-hail and delivery services, and commercial partnerships. He’ll also lead business planning and product strategies, including the development of Motional’s future generation autonomous vehicles (AVs).
“Autonomous vehicles are one of the most revolutionary technologies in the future mobility portfolio, and I’m thrilled to be joining Motional at this time in the company’s history,” said Sehyuk Park. “I look forward to working with the team as we prepare to launch our first fully driverless commercial service, while also planning for future product evolutions that will enable widespread deployments of safe, affordable, and rider-friendly driverless vehicles.”
