Motional leads the AV industry in safety-focused data sharing.
In 2019, Motional pioneered safety-focused data sharing with the release of a proprietary dataset, nuScenes, available for free for researchers and the academic community. Our goal with releasing nuScenes was to further the research that would make all AVs safer, not just our own. While this was unheard of at the time, we believed that safety transcends competition and that releasing nuScenes would benefit the entire industry. nuScenes remains the industry standard for referenced datasets. We have also expanded nuScenes to include Panoptic nuScenes, nuImages, nuPlan (the world's first and largest benchmark for autonomous vehicle planning), and nuReality.
