Motional Launches First Robotaxi Service on the Uber Network
Motional’s all-electric IONIQ 5 robotaxis are now available to Uber riders in Las Vegas. Uber and Motional have a 10-year multimarket framework agreement that is expected to create one of the largest deployments of autonomous vehicles (AVs) on a major ride-hail network. Riders in Las Vegas interested in taking a ride in a Motional robotaxi can visit the Uber app and select UberX or Uber Comfort Electric options for a chance to be matched with a Motional AV. Motional is also conducting autonomous deliveries for Uber Eats customers in Santa Monica.

Do you have questions about autonomous vehicles? Want to learn more about the technology? Motional created a four-part series, DriverlessEd, to help people better understand AVs, the technology behind them, and their benefits.
DriverlessEd Chapter 4: Ready For Launch
Chapter 4 of Motional's DriverlessEd series details the behind-the-scenes work that takes place before robotaxis can start picking up passengers, including creating high-detail street maps, building a garage, and completing test drives.
DriverlessEd Chapter 3: Enjoying the Driverless Ride
Chapter 3 of Motional's DriverlessEd series explains how AV companies like Motional are using research to understand what makes a ride comfortable, the types of features passengers expect, ways to make the vehicles accessible, and even how AVs can communicate with people.
Motional's Technically Speaking series takes a deep drive into how our top team of engineers and scientists are making driverless vehicles a safe, reliable, and accessible reality.
Technically Speaking: Predicting the future in real time for safer autonomous driving
Motional uses multi-modal prediction models to more accurately predict and anticipate what agents around our AVs are going to do next.
Technically Speaking: Mining for scenarios to help better train our AVs
Motional is using AI to sift through mountains of vehicle data to find the unique driving scenarios needed to make AV tech smarter.
