Megan Fahy, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, shares what drives her to work at Motional, as well as her passion for yoga, her dog, and partner, Leo. She even dishes her best career advice.
What do you do at Motional? I am the Senior Digital Marketing Manager at Motional - I manage our social media pages so that we can help our future passengers understand more about our technology, answer their questions, and understand their concerns, as well as tell talented people how they can come work for Motional.
What is your favorite thing about working in the AV / Tech industry? I love the fast-paced nature of the industry! Things are always changing and developing quickly, and it’s exciting to be a part of the development of this new technology that will improve our communities. It’s also amazing to work with so many intelligent and innovative individuals; I’m always learning something new. Sometimes when I take a step back to really comprehend the technology we are building, it blows my mind.
How would you describe the culture at Motional? Employees at Motional are uniquely ambitious and innovative on their own. When we bring these qualities together on our teams, we’re able to inspire each other and drive toward success.
In your time at Motional, what has been your favorite project to work on? I feel like I have already worked on so much during my time here, but launching our robotaxis on the Lyft network in Vegas was so exciting! We were able to really shine a spotlight on the cars, which look like nothing else on The Strip. We were able to generate a lot of buzz and get a good response from our future customers.
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite hobbies? Some of my biggest hobbies are baking (I love making cinnamon rolls for the holidays), reading and fitness. I’m very devoted to my yoga practice (I’m even a certified instructor!) and I hope to get back to teaching in a studio sometime soon!
Can you imagine yourself doing something other than what you do now? I love working in marketing; it’s both creative and data driven, and I do see myself in this field for a long time. But, if I wasn’t a marketer I’d love to teach yoga full time - maybe even open my own studio one day.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I’d definitely have to say Europe! My fiancé and I are currently planning our honeymoon trip to Italy and Greece and I’m so excited for it. I can’t wait to experience the culture, the coast, and the food!
What is some of the best advice you have received throughout your career? I think some of the best advice I’ve gotten in my professional career is that one of the greatest skills you can have is to be a generalist. I’ve learned this to be more and more true as I’ve grown in my career. I have accumulated skills and experiences that have helped me adapt to different teams, situations, and areas of marketing. This frame of mind also motivates me to keep looking for opportunities to learn new things, and I love that my curiosity is always growing!
How have you grown professionally since joining the Motional team? Since joining Motional, I have taken ownership of many projects and grown my confidence and leadership skills more than I could have imagined. Working on a team where you are empowered and entrusted to succeed is an incredible feeling and I look forward to continuing to improve as I grow in my future here.
