Motional today announced that its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Karl Iagnemma will transition to the role of Senior Strategy Advisor. Motional’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Laura Major will take on an expanded leadership role as interim CEO and CTO.
"I’ve been honored to serve as Motional’s CEO and am immensely proud of the progress our team has made toward developing and deploying safe autonomous vehicles,” said Karl Iagnemma. “I’m looking forward to continuing my support of Motional's mission in an advisory role and am excited about the team's future."
Major was part of Motional’s founding executive team and has worked closely with Iagnemma during his tenure as CEO, ensuring a smooth transition. “It’s been a pleasure to work with Karl in his role as CEO as the team laid the foundation for Motional’s future success under his leadership,” said Laura Major. “We enter the next phase of our business focused on advancing our technology with a clear path to commercializing autonomous vehicles at scale. I welcome the opportunity to work with the team in this new capacity as we make driverless technology a reality.”
Major and Iagnemma have already begun the transition as he assumes his new advisory role effective immediately. In partnership with Motional’s entire leadership team, Major is well positioned to guide the company through this evolution and lead the execution of its strategic roadmap.
