Motional Expands to Autonomous Delivery
In 2021, we announced Motional was expanding into the autonomous delivery space and our first partnership would be with Uber Eats. The partnership represents industry-shaping firsts for both Motional and Uber; our expansion into driverless delivery and Uber’s first delivery partnership with an AV company.
In 2022, we began conducting autonomous deliveries for Uber Eats customers in Santa Monica, using our IONIQ 5 AVs. Our teams spent months studying the delivery experience in order to deliver a seamless service for both the restaurant and end-customer.
We’re thrilled to begin piloting with Motional in California and are eager to see how their promising autonomous technology will begin to change how people and goods move throughout the world for the better.
